Our logo exemplifies the five Elements of the Western Mystery Schools in a unique way. The crosses in the triangles of Fire and Water add a bit of contrasting color and draw the eye to them as individual symbols within the whole. Thus the whole symbol imparts a subconscious message as do each of the five components.
Notice a number of interesting things: Water is above Fire, thus the Feminine is above the Masculine. The Cross of Water is yellow (Air) on the blue descending triangle thus indicating Air is above Water, The Cross of Fire is green (Earth) on the red ascending triangle thus indicating Fire is above Earth. This defines the placement of the Four Worlds on the Tree of Life. Both triangles point to the Spiritual Center where the Fire and Water combine to form a purple center (Spirit Above) with a central eight-rayed star (Spirit Within). Nestled within this central design are the Earth Pentacle of the left and Air symbol on the right. Reading from right to left we have "Heaven above and Earth below" or "As above, so below," or "Air is the beginning and Earth the realization of all of creation." In the beginning there was Mind (Air) and the Mind created emotions in the Heart (Water),and Heart created passions in the Belly (Fire) and and Fire created everything that is manifested (Earth). |
